Beyond borders is my globetrotter project of genuine curiosity, an open mind, the urge to see whats behind the next door the world has to offer. Its about traversing the world by foot and by bike, leaving the fast track of everyday life behind and going on a slow paced journey enabling me to truly enjoy and experience other places, cultures and people the world has to offer.
On these pages (which are still in the making) I whish to share my experiences, but more importantly provide helpful information for those of you who are planning similar trips of your own.
Travelling by bike is a perfect fit for independant and environmental friendly long distance travel. If necessary and with the right circumstances distances of up to 200 km can be pedalled in one day. The essence of long distance cycling though is that the reduced travelling speed on a bike enables you to experience your environment to a much fuller extent . Travelling by car or coach encapsulates you seperating you from the places you pass by and robbing you from the opportunity to really get to know the regions and places you travel through.
When travelling beyond borders you don't want to pass by places, you want to part of them.
After crossing the Austlian Outback I plan to to cross the European continent in the summer of 2015 and maybe I will be fortunate to travel the whole globe by bike.
Long Distance Trekking offers complete independance and the possibility to leave the marked routes on the way to explore the outmost corners of your environment
With a fully packed backpack, a challenging route and the long hours spent outside, every step of the way has to be earned giving you a different relationship to your surroundings. When traveling by foot you will be impressed by all the details of your environment you can experience compared to the hectic life back home.
Pack your bags, go beyond borders and savor the moment.
